James Robert Nelson, 64, of Pinnacle, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on March 29, 2021. Born March 19, 1957, he was the son of the Rev. James Franklin Nelson and Betty Jo Beasley Holt Puckett. Left behind to cherish his memory are his brother and sister-in-law, David and Debbie Nelson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Hill (Frank); Linda and Joe Bowman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Robert Jason Nelson and Jeffrey Dale Nelson; two brothers, Arthur Nelson, Arley Nelson; and three sisters, Faye Holland, Muriel Martin, and Hazel Caudle.
James was very close to his brother, David, and enjoyed helping others, especially family. A favorite way to pass time was mowing his yard. It is said he would mow his yard three times a week and just grin when asked why. Music was another source of enjoyment. An accomplished guitarist, James played bluegrass music and loved listening to it, as well. While his health began to fail and he spent time in the hospital, he found a friend in a nurse who cared for him and prayed with him, leading him to Jesus. He gained much peace in his remaining days.
