James “Boodie” Howard Hicks, Jr.

James “Boodie” Howard Hicks, Jr., age 52, of Rural Hall, passed away unexpectedly early on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on January 28, 1973, in Forsyth County to James Howard Hicks, Sr. & the late Gloria Jean Bryant Hicks.

James was a devoted husband, daddy, brother, grandfather & uncle who found his greatest joy in the love of his family. He had a passion for playing softball & was always happiest on the field. A true car enthusiast, he took great pride in his Mustang. James never met a stranger—his gift for conversation & his ability to connect with anyone made him a friend to all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jodi Roberts Hicks; three children, Brooklyn Hicks, James David Hicks & Briana (Austin) Hester; three cherished grandchildren, Bentley Newman, Briella Newman & Bailee Newman; two sisters, Becca Hicks (Nick) Scerbo & Jamey Hicks (Wesley) Hudson; father, James Howard Hicks, Sr. & a special sister-in-law, Tracey Jones.  He also leaves behind many special nieces & nephews to cherish his memory.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Daisy Marie Bryant, Walter Clayton “Jack” Bryant, William Dillard Hicks & Margaret Louise Hicks; as well as his brothers, Roger “Jason” Hicks & Joseph “Ellis” Hicks.

A visitation with the family will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home.
