Jo Ann (Stanley) Jones

Jo Ann Stanley Jones, 86, left this world for her heavenly home and to see her soul mate once again on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Jo was born on April 25, 1934 to Calvin Edgar and Rausie Stanley.  Raised by her aunt and uncle, Pete and Anna Lee Stanley, she was taught the value of family and a love of God. She later met and married her soul mate, George Paul Jones and to that marriage, a daughter, Paula Jo, was born.  Jo worked at Barber Hosiery Mill during her earlier years and still spoke of the strong bonds she had with her coworkers and friends. She found happiness in being a housewife and mother and enjoyed all the family children that tended to gravitate to Uncle Paul and Aunt Jo Ann’s house. She could cook like no one’s business and everyone always asked for Jo’s meatloaf at the family Christmas party every year. Her brightest moment was when her first and only grandchild, Stephen Banner Paul Griffin, was born. He was her pride and joy.  She leaves behind, with wonderful memories to cherish, a daughter, Paula Jones (Ray Cross) Griffin; a grandson and his fiancée, Stephen Banner Paul Griffin and Alisha Billings; her “adopted” sisters, Patsy Jo and Carol Sue; and many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years; her aunt and uncle who raised her; two sisters, Jane Moorefield and Jerry Stanley; and her son-in-law, Stephen Ray Griffin.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Central Continuing Care who loved Jo as their own and provided the utmost of care and concern in the last few years that she was a resident there. There is no formal service scheduled at this time.
