Joan Wood Obituary
Mrs. Joan McHone Wood, age 74, of Mount Airy, North Carolina, passed away on January 31, 2022, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mount Airy, North Carolina with her family by her side.
She was born on January 19, 1948, in Surry County, to the late Foy Edward and Francis Hall McHone.
During her life she worked with her husband at Jackie Wood Construction and was of the Peoples Church.
Mrs. McHone is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Jackie Lee Wood; son, Jackie Alan Wood (Susie); daughter, Melissa Upchurch (Trent); brother, Foy McHone Jr (Susan); grandchildren, Meagan Lewallen (Eric), Jesse Wood (Taylor), Whitney Reynolds, Ashley Reynolds, Caleb Reynolds (Mackenzie), and Faith Upchurch; Great Grandchildren, Kaidence Wood, Jules Wood, Ledger Wood, Kimber Woods, Aiden Lewallen, Haylee Lewallen, Bailey Reynolds, Sophie Reynolds, and Jonah Reynolds; and special friend, Kelsey Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Watson; and a brother, Ronnie McHone.
A private service will be conducted on February 4, 2022, with Pastor Gene Brinkley officiating.
