Joe Bill Bennett, 93, died Tuesday, November 7, 2023. He was the son of the late Ovington Millard Bennett and Banner Columbia (Lummie) Merritt Bennett. Joe Bill was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Polly and his two sisters Juanita Bennett and Betty Lane.
A Korean War Marine Corp Veteran, he retired from The Burroughs Corporation after 37 years of service. A lifelong quail hunter, he also enjoyed buying and restoring old furniture and old Fords. He said his proudest achievement was buying and restoring his grandfather Rob Bennett’s home in Pinnacle. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Pilot Mountain.
Joe Bill is survived by his children; Jay and Terrie Bennett and Jill and David Rudisill, brothers; Bobby Bennett and Tootsie and Don Bennett, brother in law Howard Tucker Jr and Rita, grandchildren William Bennett and Casey, Matthew Bennett and Ashley, Meghan McNeill and Daniel, Meredith Currie and Chett, great grandchildren; Braxton, Matilyn, Cooper and Brooks Bennett, Tate and Luke McNeill, and Baylor Currie.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 10, from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM at Cox Needham Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at 12 Noon at Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev Gerald Jones officiating.
