John Russell Sheets

John Russell Sheets, 71, of Pilot Mountain, passed away December 12, 2021, at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.  Born December 2, 1950, he was the son of Ward Allen and Josie Riley Sheets.  He leaves behind to cherish his abundant memories, his son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan “Cody” (Lorna Leigh) Sheets; a daughter, Brittney Nicole Sheets and Derek Scialla; three brothers and sister-in-law, Jesse Sheets, Ralph (Etta) Sheets, Dan Sheets; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Sheets Reeves, Kathy (Billy) Inman; and Ann (Gary) Payne.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tommy Sheets; and sister-in-law, Shirley Sheets.

John developed a love of all things out-of-doors, as a child growing up on a farm with his siblings.  Working outside, in his yard, or on his tractors or classic cars, he found contentment.  It was said by his sister that he always worked hard growing up on the farm.  He shared with his children, endless stories from his childhood.  Spending time with his family and being supportive was a priority.   He enjoyed watching Westerns and NASCAR races, as well.  He adored his grand cat and grand dog, Pete and Dewbie, and enjoyed visits with them.  A kind-hearted man, John will be forever missed.

A graveside service will be held, Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 3:00 PM, at the People’s Church Cemetery.  The Rev. Barry Clement will be officiating.
