Johnie Glenn Coker, 74, of Mt Airy, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 17, 2021, in Salisbury, NC. He was born on March 28th, 1947, in Gibson Wells, Tennessee, to the late Johnie and Jewel Coker. He is survived by his fiancée, Patricia Pettry; daughters Margie Steele, Lori Coker; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven step-children, Bob, Mike Sr., Matt, Krystal, Mike Jr., Candace, Shirley; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rubie Baily, Tina Childress (Eugene), Tonya Pezzatta; a dear family friend, Mae (Moir) Hutchins; special friends, Betty Swartal, Ronnie Reeves, Leroy Hoover, Grant Inman, and Adam and Christina Pinto. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coker was predeceased by his late wife, JoAnn Love Coker; brother, James Larry Smith; sister, Joyce Coker; and four step-children, David, Pat, Joe, and Jerry.
Before his retirement, Mr. Coker worked as a mechanic. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of Woodville Baptist Church. Reading and watching westerns were favorite pastimes. He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his family and others that knew him, as well as his loving fur-babies, Susie and Rebel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cox-Needham Funeral Home is respectfully serving the Coker family.
