Joseph Capps. Jr. Obituary

Mr. Joseph Cecil Capps, Jr., age 87, Mount Airy passed away on January 30, 2022, at his home in Mount Airy, North Carolina.

Mr. Capps was born on October 20, 1934, in Goldsboro, North Carolina, to the late Joseph Cecil and Augusta Gladys Capps.

He worked as a welder for most of his life as well serving in both the Navy and Army until retirement and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

Mr. Capps is survived by his daughters; Debbie Capps Bowman (Blane), Mildred McBride (Edgard), and Chris Ayers (Wade Moser); as well as brothers Kenneth Albert Capps (Arlene), Nathan Gordon Capps (Betty); sisters Dollie May Capps Guy, Gladys Gayle Capps Allen (Larry) Alice Faye Capps, Lowe Sylvester Powell (Tommy); special friend R.C. Hawks and special nephew Robert Walters; five grandsons; two granddaughters; ten great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

In addition to his parents Mr. Capps was predeceased by his first wife Hope Capps, and by his second wife Katherine Gates as well as brothers: Adam Earl Walters, James Needham Walters, and Kermit Lee Capps; and sisters: Miriam Ruth Walters, Ruby Louise Langston Singleton, Pearline Augusta Walters Parnell.

Mr. Capps will lie in state at Cox Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Thursday, February 3, 2022 through Sunday, February 6, 2022.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Skyline Memorial Garden in Mount Airy, North Carolina with Doctor David Sparks officiating.
