Joseph Ellis Hicks

Joseph Ellis Hicks, age 33, of Shoals, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022. He was born in Forsyth County on September 5, 1989 to Myra Westmoreland Holt and James Howard Hicks, Sr. Ellis was a member of Shoals United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his loving children, Kaylee Grace Hicks, Charlie Roger Hicks, and Ella Hicks of Shoals; mother Myra Westmoreland Holt of Shoals; father James Howard Hicks, Sr. of Shoals; brother James Howard Hicks, Jr. (Jodi) of Rural Hall; sisters, Becca Hicks Scerbo (Nick) of Shoals; and Jamey Hudson (Wesley) of Belews Creek; aunts and uncles, Vickie Westmoreland, Donna and Tim Collins, Junior and Frances Hicks, Sue and Tony Wall, and Sandra Throckmorton. He also has several loved nieces and nephews. Ellis was preceded in death by grandparents, Jack and Luella Westmoreland and Dillard and Louise Hicks; as well as a brother, Roger Jason Hicks. 

Ellis will be missed for many reasons. Ellis loved taking on projects, whether it was hopping on a tractor until he got stuck, or fixing up stuff around the house. He had a heart of gold and always brought a smile to your face. Ellis loved his family and friends. His children, nieces, and nephews always loved to spend time with him. He loved to spend time outside and playing video games that brought out his fun loving side. You could always find him tinkering with equipment, cooking, or spending time with his family, and was known to dive head first into whatever project came his way. Ellis had the biggest ideas and had even larger dreams. He will be forever missed and always remembered and loved!

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Shoals United Methodist Church at 4:00 PM with the Reverend Joseph M. Fulk III officiating with interment to follow in the Church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Saturday October 8, 2022, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Shoals United Methodist Church.
