Mr. Joseph Andrew “Andy” Pell III, age 77, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on October 12th, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on November 13th, 1946, in Forsyth County, to the late Joseph Andrew Pell, Jr. and Mary Tuttle Atwater Pell.
Known for his love of fast cars and racing with his son, Adam, Mr. Pell was always up for an adrenaline rush. He enjoyed taking shopping trips to Winston and thrived on renovation projects, always keeping himself busy with something to fix or improve. Before his health declined, Mr. Pell spent many happy days working on his farm, going to the beach, and enjoyed the great outdoors, especially planting flowers.
Family was at the center of his life. He loved playing poker with his children, taking pleasure in winning their money, and sharing laughs around the table. He was a true lover of music, with beach music being his favorite, and he took great joy in Shag dancing to his favorite tunes.
Mr. Pell also enjoyed weightlifting and frequently challenged family and friends to weightlifting contests, showcasing his strength and competitive spirit.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Kelly Pell Kindy (Todd); sons, Joseph Andrew “Drew” Pell IV (Tracy) and Adam Nicholas Pell; 5 granddaughters, Katie Pell, Savana Pell, McKenzie Pell, Emma Kindy, and Sophie Kindy; grandson, Dylan Southerland; sister, Linda Pell Sigmon (Robert); nephews, Andy Frye and Chad Frye (Mary); nieces, Ponnie Reed (Dennis) and Jane Grealis (Terrence); and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pell is preceded in death by his wife, Crystal Niston Pell.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, October 16th, 2024, at First United Methodist Church of Pilot Mountain at 2:00pm with Rev. Jeremy Pegram officiating. There will be a private committal following the church service. Visitation will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday at the church.
