Joyce Frederick Lawrence, age 77, of Rural Hall, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, December 1, 2025, at Priddy Manor in King.
Born on August 31, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, Joyce was the beloved daughter of the late Kenneth Floyd Lawrence and Ruth Erma Ruff Lawrence.
She built a meaningful career as a legal assistant at Bancroft & McAlister in Larkspur, California, and spent nearly three decades living and working in San Francisco, a city she cherished deeply.
Joyce’s life was marked by adventure, creativity, and joy. She participated in several races, including the iconic Bay to Breakers in San Francisco. A passionate scrapbooker, she delighted in preserving memories and stories. She loved traveling, especially visiting vineyards, and treasured adventures with family and friends—her trip to New York City with Kennette and Diana in 2015 was among her fondest memories.
Joyce was also an avid reader who found special joy in the autumn season and the magic of Christmas. A devoted sports fan, Joyce cheered for the San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, San Francisco Giants, and Ohio State football. Her interests extended to architecture, history, and animals, reflecting her curiosity and appreciation for the world around her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Kenneth C. (Diana) Lawrence; her niece, Kennette (Jonathan) Thomas; along with numerous extended family members and close friends from Ohio and California.
A graveside service for Ms. Lawrence will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Whitakers Chapel Cemetery, with Rev. Richard Buffkin officiating.
