Kay June Fulk Stephens, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away unexpectedly at her home, October 12, 2021. Born June 26, 1936, she was the daughter of Charles Walters and June Patterson Fulk. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 65 years, Spencer Franklin Stephens; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald (Lisa) Stephens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Lynn (James) Pope, June Carol (Carl) Chamberlin; eight grandchildren; Jessica Ann Pope, Jennifer Pope (Christopher) Moody, James Michael (Janice) Pope, Christine (Delano) Ridley, Mariah, Carrie, Elise Chamberlin, Isabel Lynn Stephens; four great-grandchildren, Maxton Reese Moody, James Reed Moody, Aubrey Lynn Pope, Sophia Moreci; and a brother, Dr. Charles Samuel Fulk.
A dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Kay thoroughly enjoyed caring for her friends and family. She was very active in her church and community, serving on the children’s playschools at Peace Haven Baptist Church and at Peace Haven Moravian Church, and on various committees at Maple Springs Methodist Church. Kay also enjoyed playing bridge with friends. Her gentle manner and willingness to help others will be deeply missed.
A favorite passage of Kay’s was found in her journal: “Here I am Lord. It is I Lord. I have heard you calling in the night. I will go Lord if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.”
A private graveside service will be held in Pilot Mountain at Pilot Mountain City Cemetery on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
