Larry Warner Johnson, 79, of Ararat, NC, passed peacefully away, February 7, 2021 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Born January 13, 1942, he was the son of Raymond and Betty Lawson Johnson. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Stefi Johnson; a son, Wayne Johnson; three daughters, Valerie Brooks, Bethany Johnson and Lindsey Johnson; two brothers, and sisters-in-law, Tommy (Brenda) Johnson, Terry (Bonnie) Johnson; three sisters and brother-in-law, Joan (Rev. Jackie) Danley, Jane Wolfe, Ramona Johnson; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Tulah Jones and a brother Bobby Johnson.
Mr. Johnson grew up in a small farming community and learned at an early age, strong work ethic and a desire to dream big and work hard to reach those goals. He excelled in computer engineering, electrical work, sound studio work and at his passion, photography. He also enjoyed coin collecting and genealogy. Known as one who marched to his own drum, Larry traveled at every opportunity and enjoyed the arts. Mr. Johnson was the epitome of the renaissance man. He also ministered a church in Morganton for many years, and dearly loved his congregation. His family will treasure the time spent with him as he shared his vast knowledge, experiences and the love he had for them.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Cox-Needham Chapel. The family has invited anyone that wishes to come, over to the home after the service.
The family requests that all attendees please wear masks and practice social distancing to aid in the prevention of the spread of COVID-19.
