Obituary for Mr. Larry Dwayne Shelton
Mr. Larry Dwayne Shelton, age 66, of Pilot Mountain, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, October 2, 2025, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born on September 4, 1959, in Stokes County to the late Chester Thomas Shelton and Betty Jo Essick Shelton.
Dwayne was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and a loyal friend to many. He is preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Shelton and is survived by his son, Alex (Jennica) Shelton; his four beloved grandsons, Miller, Porter, Sawyer, and Tucker; his sister, Vickie (John) Ruszkowski; as well as a host of extended family, friends, and colleagues who will cherish his memory.
For many years, Dwayne worked as a Senior Salesman with McWane Ductile, where he was respected for his knowledge, dedication, and bright personality. His work ethic and kind spirit earned him the admiration of many, and his contributions to the industry will not be forgotten.
Beyond his career, Dwayne had a passion for life. He enjoyed many activities, including basketball, golf, and riding his motorcycle. But it was his family and friends who truly brought him joy. His generosity was unmatched, and he loved nothing more than telling jokes and making people laugh.
Dwayne’s grandchildren were the light of his life. He cherished every moment spent with them, taking great pride in watching them grow and play sports. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his home in Pilot Mountain was the center of countless cherished memories.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain, with Rev. Ron Chamblin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, in honor and memory of Mr. Shelton.
