Mr. Larry Dean “Wormy” Tilley, age 68, of Westfield, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. He was born on June 19, 1957, in Stokes County to the late Sam Tilley and Louise Gray Tilley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kevin McMillian.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Tina “Darlene” Tucker Tilley; his daughters, Casey Lynn Tilley (Derrick) Johnson and Leigh Ann Spencer (Charles) Watson; his son, Gregory Shawn Spencer; his cherished grandchildren, Riley Graves, Dane Spencer, Emily Spencer, McKenna Watson, and William Watson; and his sister, Brenda (Mark) Oakley.
Larry worked for many years as an industrial insulation contractor with Hill Enterprises. He loved his family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand where needed. He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, whom the sun rose and set on! There was never a dull moment with him, always picking and joking with you. His smile and laugh was contagious and he never met a stranger. He was a gentle soul with a big heart, who is going to be greatly missed and loved always by many!
A funeral service for Mr. Tilley will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Mark George and Rev. Ricky Martin will be officiating. Following the service, Mr. Tilley will be laid to rest at State Line Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Westfield.
