Obituary

Mrs. Lavon Kay Mathews, age 62, of Siloam, passed away on May 18, 2023.

She was born on December 22, 1960, in Surry County, to the late Ivan Taylor Wood and Mildred Simpson Wood.

Lavon worked at Food Lion and was a member of Freedom and Liberty Worship Center.  She loved riding motorcycles, hummingbirds, and especially, Jesus. Lavon also, was a proud member of the Remnant Daughters Motorcycle Ministry.

She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Ronald C. Mathews, Jr.; sons, Joseph Randall Stanley with wife Shannon; Christopher Lee Mathews; and Michael Ray Mathews with wife Diana; daughter, Tina Marie Maine with husband Troy; grandchildren, Christian Blake Stanley, Sarah Elizabeth Maine, James Curtiss, Mia Rose Mathews, Morgan Dawson and Mackenzie Dawson; and sister, June Bunn with husband Larry.

Lavon was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of Lavon’s life will be held at Freedom and Liberty Worship Center on May 27, 2023 at 6:00pm.
