Libby Ann (Coone) Tilley

Libby Ann Coone Tilley, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home on April 16, 2021. Born March 29, 1943, she was the daughter of Paul and Mallie Barnes Coone. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, a son, Jerry Delane Burchette and his fiance, Teresa Burcham; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy Yvette Smith (Gordon) Green; and a sister and brother-in-law, Andra Coone (Tim) Montgomery; four grandchildren, Heather Sarandos, Forrest Green, Sean Green, Amber Lynn; two great-grandchildren, Payton Sarandos, Michael Sarandos; and a foster sister, Patsy Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Tilley. Raised on a tobacco farm working side by side with her parents, Libby was instilled with strong work ethic and appreciation of family. She worked for many years at Spencer’s Textiles and raised her children with those same values. Libby adored spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed BINGO, Word Search, and listening to gospel music. It was said of her, that, “she wanted to make sure her friends and loved ones were happy.” Her warm and loving nature will be deeply missed. The family will receive friends, Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 12:00-1:00 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Pine Hill Church at 2:00 PM. Eulogist will be Gordon Green and Mike Marshall will also be speaking. The family asks that all attendees please wear masks and practice social distancing.
