Lillie Fowler Obituary

Mrs. Lillie Newman Fowler 103 years old, of King North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Universal Health Care. She was born on March 13, 1915 to Dock Fernando Newman and Minerva Katherine Hudson Newman.

She will be loved and missed by all her family; one daughter; Rebecca (Bob) Walkup, two daughters-in-law; Mona Fowler, Richmond VA, and Gay Fowler of Blacksburg, VA, seven grandchildren; Gary (Rachel) Walkup, Lisa (Kevin) Sisk, Robert (Dana) Fowler, Mike (Angie) Fowler, Cristy (Mike) Glagola, Brooke (Francisco) Peot, Mike (Patti) Williams, eighteen great-grandchildren; Josh (Kristin) Walkup, Jon (Jessica) Walkup, Leah Hylton, Mary Hylton, Laiken Sisk, Ryan Sisk, Alex Fowler, Hanna Fowler, Eric Fowler, Bridget Fowler, Patrick Fowler, Luke Fowler, Jack Glagola, Henry Glagola, Lauren (Greg) Mehfoud, Mackenzie Williams, Abbey Williams, Adrian Peot, four great-great grandchildren; Ashlyn Walkup, Kailey Walkup, Harrison Walkup and Rhett Walkup. She was the oldest member of Chestnut Grove UMC as well as member of the Elizah Edward Sunday School Class. Her favorite pastime was cooking, gardening, and traveling when able. She also enjoyed spending time with her family as well as her church family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years Walter C. Fowler, parents; Dock Fernando and Minerva Katherine Hudson Newman, two sons; Robert H. Fowler, and David W. Fowler, two brothers; James Thomas Newman and Gwinn Newman, eight sisters; Ethel Simpson, Leone Helms, Lola Richardson, Rosa Lee Courtney, Ruth McCorkle, Dorothy Bell, Geneva Hyde and Betty Sebastian.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, King, NC with Rev. Dr. Evelyn Lemon officiating.

Interment will follow Chestnut Grove UMC Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M, at Chestnut Grove UMC .

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Chestnut Grove UMC Building fund, 1024 Volunteer Road, King, NC 27021
