Lillie Othenia Mitchell Marion, 88, of Pilot Mountain, passed peacefully away at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, May 15, 2021. She was born May 29, 1932, one of five siblings, to Will and Trudie East Mitchell. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rachel M. and Aubrey Moore of Pinnacle; grandson, Tracy (Julie) Moore of Winston-Salem; two great-granddaughters, Hannah Moore of Chapel Hill, Sarah Moore of Winston-Salem; a special niece, Gracie Edwards of Elkin; two nephews, Mike (Wanda) Mitchell, Jeff (Lisa) Mitchel, all of Pinnacle; several other nieces and nephews; a special, dedicated friend, Jennifer Chase, of Dobson; and her cherished fur baby, Princess. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 35 years, Dillard Marion.
Raised to be caring, attentive and generous, Lillie enjoyed tending her roses, flower beds, gardens, and sharing her harvests with neighbors. She was quite active in her community. Continuing her altruistic ways, even in her final days, Mrs. Marion made the selfless decision to donate her body to Wake Forest University Medical School. Her wish was to continue to help others discover and learn.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 23, 2021 at 12:30 PM at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. Ron Chamblin, Jr. will be officiating.
