Lois Melissa (Cook) Simmons

On Monday July 5, 2021, Lois Melissa Cook Simmons, devoted wife and mother passed away at the age of 86. She was born June 16,1935, in Surry County, NC to the late Joseph Jackson Cook and Lillian Mae Taylor Cook . Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker.

Mrs. Simmons enjoyed, gardening, baking, sewing, and singing in the choir. One of her most favorite things was being “Mema” to her special grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lois is survived by two sons, David Simmons (Donna),Joel Douglas Simmons (Sheila); 5 grandchildren, Ashley Lucas (Tyler), Courtney Scott( Colby), Ryan Simmons and Klaudia Tucker, and Bailey Simmons. 3 great grandchildren; Annie Mae Scott, Teddy Grace Scott and Sutton Weslie Lucas.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Wesley Simmons, 3 sisters, Allure Bennett (Jack), Joy Sisk (Charles), and Joan Cook

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 10, 2021, at 3:00 pm at Fairview United Methodist Church with Reverend Duncan Martin officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Church.  Interment will follow in Pilot View United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pilot Church Road Pinnacle NC 27043.

Mrs. Simmons will lie in state July 8th-9th from 8:30am - 4:30pm at Cox Needham Funeral Home
