Mr. Loyd Ernest Tilley, Sr., age 92, of Pinnacle, passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.
Mr. Tilley was born on March 24, 1933, in Forsyth County to the late John Ernest Tilley, Sr. and Lucy Ann Noah Tilley.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Gracie Carol Johnson Tilley; his brother, John Ernest Tilley, Jr.; two sons, Larry Johnson and Loyd Tilley, Jr.; grandchildren, Hope Jessee, Lauren Turbeville, Dillon Johnson and Maddox Johnson; step-grandchildren Bret Woodruff, Aleicha Ardner, Sara Woodruff, Miranda Woodruff, Jesse Mitchell and Zachary Woodruff; great-grandchildren, Ryder Jessee, Brayden Turbeville and Lynlee Turbeville; step-great-grandchildren, Cooper Mitchell and Emery Mitchell; step-sons, Michael Woodruff, Randall Woodruff, and Ronald Woodruff; as well as special nieces and nephew, Louise Alley, Lisa Tilley Corns, Sherri Tilley and John Tilley, III.
Mr. Tilley proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was self-employed for many years as a small engine repairman, a trade that reflected his strong work ethic and mechanical skill.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, February 10, 2025 at Indian Grove Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, with Rev. Frank Harmon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial with military rites will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
