Lura Virginia Flowers Wilson, age 85 of Westfield Road in Mt. Airy, passed away on August 22nd at Northern Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Wilson was born on February 10, 1938 in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Bertha Overstreet & Ellis Flowers, Sr.
She was a Baptist & she loved cooking for her family & friends. Lura truly loved helping anyone that needed a little extra love. When she worked, she was a caretaker for social services. Her life was spent worshiping her Lord, helping people & loving every minute of it.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Kenneth L. Wilson in Westfield; her sons, Jack Lacy, Jr in Bedford, Virginia, Henderson Lacy in Bedford Virginia, Bobby Flowers, in Westfield; her step-children, James Wilson of Mt. Airy & Teresa Alley of Mt. Airy; her sister, Shirley Jarrell of Mt. Airy. She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren & nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Lura was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Brown, formerly of Roanoke, Virginia.
A graveside service for Mrs. Wilson will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Mt. Airy on Monday, August 28th at 2:00pm. Rev. David Tucker will be officiating the services. She will lie-in-state at the funeral home from 8:00am until 1:00pm on the day of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Luras honor.
