Mary Baker Obituary

Mary Ruth Baker, age 88, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on April 20, 2023, at The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.

She was born on December 26, 1934, in Surry County to the late Hilary and Josie McCollum Key.

Mary worked for many years as a private duty LPN.  She loved recipes and cooking and was always in front of the television at 7:30pm on weeknights to watch her favorite program, Jeopardy.

She is survived by her loving husband of eleven years, Larry William Finney; daughter, Marilyn B. Turney; son, Jimmy G. Baker (Debbie); stepchildren, Stephanie Cranford (Ricky), Kelly Mills (Mark), and Jamie Finney; sister, Ruby Moser; special nephews, Mark and Greg; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great grandchildren; and two nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Andrea.

A private graveside service will be held at Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 2:00pm with Rev. Daniel Ritchey officiating. Interment to follow the service. Per Mary's request, there will be no visitation or viewing.

In lieu of flowers and food, donations can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice of Dobson.
