Mary Frances Felts Columbine, 87, of Advance, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on March 18, 2020, surrounded by her family. Born September 29, 1932, she was the daughter of Roy and Ethel Webb Felts. A loving mother and "Granny", a faithful Christian, and a woman of great country fortitude, Mrs. Columbine leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Billy Shaw, Butch Shaw, Bobby (Michele) Hall, Kelly Mullins (Jim Mullins, Jr.) and Julie (Bobby) Luffman; a brother, Charles(Bobbie) Felts; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Tommy Shaw, Bruce Shaw; a daughter, Frances Hicks; two brothers, Homer Felts and Warren Felts; and one sister, Ruth Reece.
Mrs. Columbine enjoyed life and loved her family. She cherished the simple things in life but found wealth in the reading of her Bible and sipping a cup of coffee, preparing family favorite meals of pintos and cornbread and tending her gardens. She was also very proud of her published works in two genealogical books, one being Blaze Spur, the results of years of ancestry study and family history.
There will be a funeral service on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 2:00 in the Cox-Needham Funeral Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery.
