Mary Lettie Vernon Key, 94, of Dobson, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior, Sunday, February 28, 2021. Born July 21, 1926, she was the daughter of Monty and Betty Vernon. In August of 1940, she married her husband, Hassell Paul Key. To this union, three sons were born. Left to cherish her memory, are her son, Alton Thomas Key; Daughter-in-law, Jane Key; nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Holly, Monica, Craig, Todd, Tracy, Jason, Dale and Sandra; seventeen great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Hassell Steve Key, Teddy Dale Key, and Janice Comer Key; her siblings, Brady Harrison, Rachel Clara, Petis Grady, Jettie Mae, Wade Monty, Grace Hettie, Jack Scales, Reid Franklin, and Doris Joy. As a child, Mary developed strong work ethic, and as a mother and grandmother, she instilled these values in her children and grandchildren. Mary devoted her life in service to others and was especially known for her love of the Savior, Jesus Christ. She kept songs on her lips with “When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder, I’ll Be There, “being her favorite. She appreciated the beauty of flowers and birds, teaching her children to garden and cherished the cardinals that frequented her yard. She will be remembered for the laughter, keen sense of humor and her singing and dancing around the house with her children and grandchildren, making life fun! A graveside service will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 at Jesus Church of Corinth Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Bro. Craig Key and will be officiating. The family asks that all attendees wear masks and practice social distancing to aid in the prevention of COVID-19. If not feeling well or running a fever, please refrain from attending.
