Mary Tilley
August 5, 1937 – February 23, 2025

Mary Tilley, age 87, of Pinnacle, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Willowbrook Nursing Center in Yadkinville. She was born on August 5, 1937, in Surry County to the laten Hubert Odell and Annie Gillispie Lawson.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Ethel Goins; her nieces and nephews, Janet Soyars, Sylvia Lawson, Scott (Amy) Goins, Darian (Jessica) Goins, Chris Lawson, Tim Branch, and David Branch; as well as her great-nieces and nephews, Katelyn, Sara, Dylan, and Arianna.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Delmar Ray "Bill" Lawson, Edna (Ed) Branch, Clarence (June Carol) Lawson, and Charles Ed Branch.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her dedicated nurse and caregiver, Angie Whitner, and her kind neighbors, Robert and Rachel Cullen, for their care and support.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Friendly Chapel in Pilot Mountain, with Bro. D.C. Collins officiating. Ms. Tilley will lie in state in the church from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service.

Mary’s greatest joys in life included maintaining her yard and tending to her beautiful flowers. Every year without fail Mary would attend the Hillsville flea market, scoping out deals on Camel Joe and Princess House collectibles. Mary enjoyed spoiling her nieces and nephews, they brought her immeasurable joy. You never saw Mary without her sister Ethel, they shared a special bond only sisters know. Mary will be greatly missed by all of us who loved and knew her.
