Nora Ella Fulk Simmons, 78, of Pilot Mountain, passed away March 25, 2021, at Universal Healthcare of King. Born April 29, 1942, she was the daughter of Ellis and Gertrude Yates Fulk. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Gina Simmons, Greg and Renee’ Simmons; four grandchildren, Tyler and Celeste Simmons, Matt and Jenna Simmons, Hank Simmons, Maddie Simmons; three great-grandchildren, Lillian Renee’ Simmons, Nathan Gregory Simmons, Joe Bill Simmons: and a very special family friend, Cindy Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Joe Bill Simmons.
A loving and devoted wife and mother, Nora also cared for her friends and neighbors. She was very active in her church and her faith was a glorious example for all that knew her. She adored spending time with her children and grandchildren and left an incredible spiritual legacy for them. Nora found great joy in tending her flower beds and in reading scripture, with her favorite being, Romans 8:28. Her faith grew even stronger during her battles with cancer. Simply put, she loved Jesus. Her independence and steadfastness were to be admired and will certainly be missed.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
A private, family graveside service will be held at Friendly Chapel Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ryan Whitt will be officiating. Nora will lie in state at Cox-Needham Funeral Tuesday, March 30, and Wednesday, March 31, from 9:00-5:00.
The family asks that all attendees please wear masks and practice social distancing. If not feeling well or running a fever, please refrain from attending.
As the COVID virus threat subsides, the family will announce a date for a memorial service.
