Peggy June (O'Neal) Goins Slate

Mrs. Peggy June O’Neal Goins Slate, age 85, of Mount Airy, passed away on December 18, 2022, at The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

She was born on March 24, 1937, in Surry County, to the late Rufus Roscoe O’Neal and Lillie Mae Wall O’Neal.

Peggy worked as a CNA and was of the Baptist faith

She is survived by her husband, Don Slate; children, Vicki Bledsoe with husband Mike, Cathy Williams, Renee Weddle with husband Randle, Roy Goins, Jr. with wife Angel, and Scotty Goins with wife Patti; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and her brother, Don O'Neal of Rock Hill, SC.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Goins, Sr.;  grandson, Ryan Moncus; and  sister, Verna O’Neal.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Cox-Needham Funeral Chapel at 1:00pm with Pastor Bill Watson and Rev. Danny Poindexter officiating. Visitation will be held the day of the service from 10:45am to 12:45pm. Interment will follow at Anchor Baptist Church Cemetery in Ararat.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.
