Peggy (Key) Smith

Mrs. Peggy Key Smith, age 89, of Dobson, passed away on December 13, 2023, at her home.

She was born on November 17th, 1934, in Surry County, North Carolina to the late Davis Key and Mamie McHone Key.

Mrs. Smith worked as a CNA before retirement and was of the Baptist faith. She was very active in her church Siloam Baptist, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. She loved to crochet, garden and work in her flower beds.

She is survived by her son, Billy Clayton Smith Jr (Frankie); daughters, Teresa Smith Hodges (Gary); Margaret Carter (Matthew); grandkids, Bonnie Southard, Thomas Hayes (Chryslyn), Amber Chang (Eric), Amy Hayes, Kenneth Walter Hodges, Coley Davis Hodges (Neelie), Emma Young (Zackary), Rachel Carter, and several great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Cruise (Wade); and a brother, Gilmer Key (Judy).

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Clayton Smith; son, James Davis Smith; grandson, Timothy Key Hodges.

A graveside service will be conducted December 22nd,  2023, at Siloam Baptist Cemetery at 1:00pm with Pastor Jarred Seal officiating.
