Mr. Ralph Otis Shinault, lifelong sawmill man, 81, of Mount Airy, N.C., passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. Ralph was born in Grayson County, Virginia on December 12, 1939 to William and Lizzy Atkins Shinault. He later met and married Rose Spencer and together they built a life. Mr. Shinault enjoyed working on lawnmowers in his later years and loved watching the grandkids play. Left to cherish his memory are three sons and their wives; Otis (Kathy) Shinault, Matthew (River) Shinault, and William (Brittney) Shinault; one daughter, Alicia (Drew) Hoop; one brother, Junior Clyde Shinault; three grandchildren, Michelle (Brian Hall) Shinault, Hunter Snow and Kendi Snow; and seven great-grandchildren, Bryant Hoop, Josiah Hoop, Kenzi Hall, Lydia Shinault, Charli Snow, Colton Shelor and Jaxson Shelor and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Shinault was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife; three grandchildren, Caleb Ralph Shinault, Piper Rose Dean Shinault and Dakota Andrew Shinault; and three brothers, Kyle, James and Ray Shinault.
A graveside service for Mr. Shinault will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Woody Flippen officiating.
Mr. Shinault will lie-in-state at Cox-Needham Funeral Home on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM, Friday, February 12, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 9:00 until 5:00 PM and Sunday, February 14 from 9:00 until 12:00 PM.
The family requests that all attendees please wear masks and practice social distancing. If not feeling well or running a fever, please refrain from attending to aid in the prevention and spread of COVID-19
