Rex Davis Obituary

Mr. Rex Allen Davis, age 86, of Pilot Mountain, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on the evening of Saturday, June 28, 2025. He was born on August 25, 1938, in Surry County to the late James Childs Davis and Jennie "Eva" Atkins Davis.

Rex worked as a farmer, raising chickens, tobacco and a garden big enough to feed everyone. He also worked at Armtek Surry Industries. He was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Leah Mae Bateman Davis; two daughters, Pamela Leigh (Brian) Gwyn and Christy Allen Davis; his sister, Sylvia Jane (Joe) Collins; grandchildren, Whittney (Matt) Harris, Lindsay Tipping, and Allen James Kincaid; great-grandchildren, Zaddock Arnder, Nolan Harris, Walt Harris, Charlie Tipping, and Isla Harris; and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Davis and Judy Davis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, James Burton Davis and Charles Leon Davis, and his nephew, Ryan Charles Davis.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at New Hope United Methodist Church in Pilot Mountain, with Rev. Charlie Fried officiating. The family will receive friends following the service inside the church.
