Robert Sands Obituary

Mr. Robert Eugene Sands, age 76, of Lawsonville, passed away on September 1st, 2024, at High Point Regional Hospital.

He was born on November 17th, 1947, in Stokes County, to the late Robert Lee Sands and Myrtle Irene Sands.

Mr. Sands had a deep passion for bear and deer hunting, enjoying the thrill of the hunt. He also found great joy in taking his grandchildren fishing and watching them play sports.

Traveling and camping with his beloved wife, Waynona, were among his greatest pleasures. The two shared many adventures together, including a month-long trip out west and traveling to Alaska and many other states.

An avid car enthusiast, Mr. Sands had a talent for working on old vehicles. He loved repairing, painting, and restoring classic cars, often selling them to appreciative buyers. His pride and joy was the restoration of Waynona’s parents’ 1963 1/2 Fastback Ford, a labor of love that became a symbol of his dedication and skill.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Waynona Sands; daughters, Amy (Keith) Warfel, and Tammy (Bryan) Williams; grandsons, Reece Warfel (Kate Wilson), and Austin Williams; granddaughters, Riley Warfel, and Lindsey Williams; his faithful little dogs, Daisy and Squirt; along with many other special family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sands was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Sands, Oliver Sands, and infant brother.

A celebration of his life will be held on September 7th, 2024, at 4:00pm, at his and Waynona’s home. For more information, please contact a family member.
