Mr. Roger Bill Beck, age 75, of Siloam, passed away on June 24, 2022, at The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.
He was born on April 12, 1947, in Surry County, to the late Dock Coolidge Beck and Hattie Mae Crissman Beck
Mr. Beck spent 22 years at Norfolk and Southern, followed by 17 years at Wake Forest University prior to his retirement. He was devoted to his family and could often be found helping around his community. Mr. Beck also served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his son, Jason (Sheri) Beck; daughter Alice (Kelsey) Banks; grandchildren. Dylan (Maison) Hawks, Sarah (Daniel) Cockerham, and Joseph Cockerham; honorary grandchildren, Brandon Hawks, Stephanie (Adrian) Gardner, and Simon (Kody) Mayes; one great-grandson, Dezexus Jordan; a brother, Jimmy (Deana) Beck; sisters, Judy (Benton) Gillespie and Joyce (Wade) Key; special nephew, Alex Childress, his wife, Patti, and daughter Olivia; special caregivers, Misty Hege and Patty Lamb; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Beck was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Claudine Childress Beck; brother, Benny Ray Beck; and a sister, Betty Sue Beck.
A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 2pm at Pine Hill Church with Rev. Scott Coleson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
