He was born the seventh son of Wesley Samuel and Mable Catherine Utt McKnight on June 22, 1953. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Deborah Dalton McKnight; one son and daughter-in-law, Wesley (Christine) McKnight; a step-son, Michael Pack and family; three brothers, Howard McKnight, Charles McKnight, and Melvin McKnight; nieces, Nichole and Michele; and nephews, David and Christopher; great nephews, Gabriel, Zandy, and Micah; and great niece, Presley; and all of the nieces and nephews from the McKnight family. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Ashley McKnight; and three brothers, Johnny McKnight, Donald McKnight, and Samuel McKnight.
A man who worked for over twenty-five years hauling freight for RJR, enjoyed his time in the great out- of-doors. He relished time at the beach, fishing and finding a shady spot to relax. When home, he loved working in his gardens, tending bounteous produce or sharing rocking chair time with his wife on their front porch. Roy will surely be missed. The family wishes to thank Mountain Valley Hospice for their excellent care and compassion shown to Mr. McKnight during his illness.
