Ruth Carpenter Evans

Ruth Carpenter Evans, age 88, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Chilton Memorial Hospital in NJ. She was born on July 12, 1937, in Alleghany County, NC to the late George and Ethel Carpenter.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Tammy (Don) Thornburg;  son Harold (Trisha) Evans; grandchildren, Megan (Kurt) Wubbenhorst, Aaron Evans, Matthew (Maria) Thornburg, Brooke (Drew) Cross; great-granddaughters, Zoey and Violet Wubbenhorst.

Ruth will be remembered as the matriarch of the family and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family and we know she is now at peace.  She was very artistic and loved spending time creating and making things for family and friends. She was very happy to pass on her knowledge to anyone who wanted to learn. The memories of her warmth, her love, her strength and her never-ending ability to listen will be remembered forever by the people in her life.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 1:00-2:00pm at Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mtn, NC followed by a brief graveside service at Flower Gap Primitive Baptist Church in Cana, Va.
