Sandra Chilton Comer (aka Sissy), 64, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center.

Born on August 15, 1961, Sandra lived a life marked by devotion to family, loyal friendships, and simple joys that brought her great happiness. She retired from US Air, where she dedicated many years of service and formed many lasting friendships.

Sandra was a devoted fan of the Duke Blue Devils men's basketball and cheered them on faithfully. She was known for her love of Pepsi, her sassy spirit, and her deep love for the beach. The beach held a special place in her heart, and family trips there created treasured memories that will live on forever.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Wade Jessup; her mother, Starr Adele Chilton; and her special brother-in-law, Dean Denny.

She is survived by her loving sister, Cindy Denny; her niece, Jessica (Todd) Marinan; her nephew, Wes Denny (girlfriend, Caitlin Cornish) Great Nephew; Landon (Girlfriend, Marina Ingo) Marinan; her great Niece, Lindsay Bodenhamer (Connor); her great-great-grandnieces, Charley and Chandler; as well as many special friends who were like family to her.

Sandra will be remembered for her loyalty, her love for her family, and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A Time of Remembrance will be held Saturday March 7th from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the Cox-Needham Funeral Home Chapel.  Everyone is welcome to join the family for a gathering at Cindy's house following the service.
