Sharlene Lee (Tucker) August

Sharlene Lee Tucker August, age 78, of Mt. Airy, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at her home.

Sharlene was born on September 16th, 1946, and worked for many years as a telephone operator with Surry Telephone Membership Corporation. Sharlene loved to cook and being a caregiver to her pets. She was known for her strong work ethic, warm heart, and quiet strength.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband of four years, Thomas “Tom” August; two sons, Ricky Tucker and Scottie Tucker; two sisters and two brothers. Also, her very special caregiver of seven years Barbara Simmons who was always there for her and the August family. She also leaves behind her beloved furbaby Chiquitia who never left her side.

In addition to her parents, Sharlene was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Debbie Tucker; and her brother, Mike.

A memorial service to honor Ms. August’s life will be held on a later date.
