Shirley Bowman Obituary

Ms. Shirley Ann Cain Bowman, age 84, of Pinnacle, passed away on December 15th, 2024, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.

She was born on August 31st, 1940, in Surry County, to the late Walter Ray Cain and Elizabeth Frye Cain.

Ms. Bowman was a proud graduate of Shoals School, Class of 1958, Ms. Bowman built a life centered around hard work and love. She was a homemaker and worked diligently on the family farm, where she nurtured both crops and connections with her loved ones.

Ms. Bowman had a deep appreciation for nature, enjoying bird watching and cultivating her garden with care. She found joy in traveling, exploring new places, and creating cherished memories along the way. Whether playing cards with friends or relaxing while watching the Hallmark Channel, Ms. Bowman embraced life’s moments with grace and warmth.

Her care-giving nature extended to all who needed her, offering comfort and support with a kind heart and gentle spirit.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sharon A. Bowman, Lynn B. Wright, Rhonda B. (Mark) Neal, and Robin (Todd) Bowman; grandchildren, Mercedes (Adam) Bailey, Amber (Molly) Gruner, Colt (Tessa) Midkiff, Roby Midkiff, Jesse Neal, and Casie Neal; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, Roby Wayne Bowman; grandchild, Jonathan Ray Wright.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, December 21st, 2024, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home at 1:00pm with Rev. Tommy Gosnell officiating. The family will receive friends and family 12:30 until time of the service. Interment will follow the service at the Bowman Family Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Cathy Williams, Rondalyn T. Blair, Tessa Johnson, and Robin Higham for their loving and sincere care towards Ms. Bowman.

Ms. Bowman’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for the care that she received during her time there.
