Stacy Lee Brown, 83, of Shoals, passed away suddenly, April 4, 2021. He was born October 10, 1937, the son of Anderson and Crawlie Barber Brown. Left behind to cherish his memory are, his best friend, loving wife and companion of 37 years, Nelda Spainhower Brown; two stepsons, Marcel Martin, Richard (Robin) Martin; a stepdaughter, Beverly Gay Oakley; son, Ronald Brown; two daughters, Sharon Bourgeois, Stacey Deviller; thirteen grandchildren, two of whom (Johnny and Seth Martin) he was very close; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and six sisters.
Raised to be a man of strong character, Stacy enlisted in the United States Army, served five years in Vietnam, was an active paratrooper, Pathfinder, and Green Beret, traveling on many assignments before retiring after thirty years’ service to his country. When he wasn’t working, spending time with his family and watching westerns was a favorite pastime. He was a member of Shoals Baptist Church. His quiet manner and works in the community will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 9, 2021 at Shoals Baptist Church at 2:00 PM. Dr. John Clogett, the Rev. Joey Lane, will be officiating. Will Haymore will also be speaking. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Full military honors will be presented. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 4112 Shoals Road, Pinnacle, NC 27043.
The family asks that all attendees please wear masks and practice social distancing. If not feeling well or running a fever, please refrain from attending.
