Thomas Lester Johnson

Mr. Thomas Lester Johnson, age 88, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on March 1, 2023 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

He was born on August 12, 1934, in Surry County, to Carl Monroe Johnson and Lula Holt Johnson.

Mr. Johnson worked in many fields during his life to include farming, radio and TV repair, auto repair, as a store operator and retired as maintenance supervisor at the Reynolda Road facility of Wake Forest University.  He was a charter member of the Westfield Volunteer Fire Department and served as the first Chief from 1963 to 1964.  Johnson was a member of and served as a deacon at Brims Grove Baptist Church and was also a private pilot.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, JoFrankie Matthews Johnson; sons Thomas Dean Johnson with wife Janet, Timothy Farrell Johnson with wife Mechale; daughter JoAnn Young with husband Alex; grandchildren, Thomas Matthew Johnson with wife Ashley, Amber Fran Johnson, and Nina Johnson Spake with husband Christian; great grandchild, Thomas Ethan Johnson; good friend, Larry O'Neal, and granddog, Sterling.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 2pm at Brims Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Jones officiating.  The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow the service at the church cemetery.
