Mr. Tommy Gray Ayers, 62, of King, NC passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 22, 2020. Tommy was born on September 7, 1958 to Ray Gilbert and Minnie Lee Atkins Ayers. Tommy was employed by RJ Reynolds in logistics before becoming ill. Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was married for 42 wonderful years to his wife, Elizabeth Hawks Ayers. He loved family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Tommy will be remembered as a kind man, always willing to help others. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, one son, Kenneth Gray (Beth) Ayers, one daughter, Rebecca Ann Roman, one brother, Ronnie Ray (Verlie Mae) Ayers, a sister, Patsy (Larry) Hutchins and a brother- in- law, Bud Cain, Grandchildren, Ashlynn Elizabeth (Cole) Hornaday, Joshua Caleb Ayers, Kaydence Faith Ayers, and Chasidy Elizabeth Ayers. Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sandra Cain.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Home, Pilot Mountain, NC
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Living Waters Family Worship Center with Pastor Kenneth Ayers, Rev. Sherman Hawks and Bishop Floyd Vaught officiating.
Full Military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force and VFW post 9436 Pilot Mountain and VFW post 2019 of Mount Airy.
