Tyre Charles Needham, 88, of Pinnacle, passed away February 15, 2021 at Novant Forsyth Medical Center. Born September 15, 1932, he was the son of Claude Ernest and Stella Rosella Adams Needham. Left behind to cherish a full life of memories are, his daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy (Charlie) Munson, Linda (John Charles) Hardin; son, Ronnie Earl Needham; brothers, Roger Needham, Eddie Needham; sisters, Anna Lee Atkins, Barbara Jean Jessup; grandchildren, Elizabeth Sue Munson: his special caregiver and companion, Katie Munson, April (Angel) Garcia, Adam Hardin, Becky Hardin, Ronnie Needham, Bonnie Needham, Tiffany Needham; eleven great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Winnie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of over forty years, Louise Needham; a brother, James Claude Needham; sisters, Beatrice York, Opal Boyles, Janie McClung, and infant sister, Marilyn Needham. A man of great character, he learned from an early age, strong work ethics and responsibility. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1954. After his service in the military, he returned to his home and began farming then became a Master Mechanic and drove for NASCAR. Mr. Needham enjoyed, tremendously, spending time with his family and sharing his memories and stories. Charles ran Pilot Gulf Service Station for a number of years, a place where many members of the community hold fond memories. Until the end of his life, Mr. Needham continued to enjoy using his mechanical skills both as a hobby and to help friends and neighbors.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Pinnacle View Baptist Church cemetery. The Rev. Ron Chamblin, Sr. will be officiating. Military honors will be presented. Mr. Needham will lie in state Mon., Feb. 22 (1:00-5:00), Tue. (9:00-5:00), and Wed. (9:00-2:00).
