Mr. Vincent Lee Bray, age 65, of Pilot Mountain, passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 2022, at his home.
Vincent was born in Heidelberg, Germany to Victor Hugo Bray, Sr., and Juliette Chambers Avirett Bray. He graduated from Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia. After serving 2 years in the Navy as part of the Mediterranean Fleet as a SONAR technician on a destroyer, he attended the University of Georgia. In his adult life, he worked in the food service industry and as a restaurant manager and excelled in the culinary arts. He shared his love of food and cooking with others as often as he had the chance, cooking lavish meals not just for friends and family, but preparing community meals for his church every month for years. Vincent took great pride in everything he did and went above and beyond for those he cared about.
In 2005 he met the love of his life, Rebecca and in 2015 they were married. They shared a love of horses, deep sea fishing, and autocross racing. He shared his passions with Rebecca and included not just her, but her granddaughter Abby as well.
During Vincent’s life, he devoted his time to pursuing his passions and interests. He rebuilt a 1987 Porsche 944 that he and his wife Rebecca raced, often winning in their divisions. His most recent passion was woodworking, making a rocking horse for Abby and he improved and perfected a swing design, and his swings can be seen around Pilot Mountain.
Vincent cared deeply for others. He was kindhearted, hands on, passionate, generous, and hard working. He was loved by his friends and family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Bray is survived by his loving wife Rebecca Williams Bray of Pilot Mountain, NC and his son Hoyt Bray (Haley) of Anderson, SC; granddaughters Scarlett Bray of Anderson, SC and Abby Shelton of Pilot Mountain, NC; his mother Juliette Chambers Avirett Bray of Columbus, GA, and his brothers; Victor Hugo Bray, Jr. (Jonette) of Philadelphia, PA, Vaughn Gilbert Bray (Phyllis) of Columbus, GA, and Vance Jay Bray (Bill Mitchell) of Denver, CO.
