Virginia May Ring Jones, Ararat, NC, passed away at the age of 98, November 10, 2021, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center. Virginia was born December 3, 1922, to Arthur L. and Mary Elizabeth Key Ring. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn Franklin (Jane) Jones, Jr.; a grandson, Adam Franklin (Rebecca) Jones; a granddaughter, Kristen Elizabeth (Bill) Craver; two great-grandsons, Heath and Chase Craver; and several nieces and nephews. Many families and friends were touched by her kindness and love. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Franklin Jones, who was killed in action in WWII; two brothers and two sisters, Willie (Emma) Ring, Ralph (Peggy) Ring, Lettie (John) Whitaker, and Betty Mann.
Virginia taught at Copeland School for many years and later, worked as the office manager at Surry Telephone until her retirement. Described by her son as a strong woman, she was determined to provide for her son after losing her husband. She also cared for many in her family and community. Virginia gave music lessons to many children, instilling in them, the love of music. A very artistic woman, she painted, played musical instruments, and in her later years, began teaching herself to play the fiddle. A great dedication in life was her church. She gave much of her time to the church and to the community, sharing her generous and compassionate heart.

Virginia will lie in state at Cox-Needham Funeral Home, Saturday, November 13, 2021 and Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM.
A visitation will be held Monday, November 15, 2021, from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM at Pine Hill Church, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ray Lambe will be officiating.
