Walter Hubert Bowman Collins

Walter Hubert Bowman Collins, 65, of Mount Airy, passed away after a brief illness, December 18, 2021, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center. Born November 17, 1956, in Forsyth County, he was the son of Mae Bowman. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, three sons, Ricky James Collins (Holley Atkins), Jamie Leo Collins, Ezekiel Tobias Collins; a daughter, Brittany Nicole Collins; grandchildren, Madison Hutchins, Mason Hutchins, Israel Hylton, Raphael Hylton, Eden Hylton, and Baby Collins on the way; brothers, Jesse Bowman, Raymond Beck; and a sister, Bunkie Bowman (Jaccamo Rapone).

He was preceded in death by his mother; grandmother, Susan Annie Bowman; brothers, Ronnie Bowman, Ray Bowman, Charlie Bowman; and sisters, Kate Bowman, Geneva Cobler, Meecie Saxton, and Brenda Edwards (Jason Edwards).

With a spirit to live life to the fullest and enjoy laughing, he was well known for his humor and ready laugh. He loved sitting around, “chewing the fat,” and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Fishing was another favorite pastime as long as his health allowed. His larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Indian Grove Family Cemetery. The Rev. Keith Jones will be officiating. Family will receive friends at Cox-Needham Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00, prior to the service. Mr. Collins will lie in state Wednesday, December 22, 2021, from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM.
