William Fred Yates

Fred Yates, age 89, of Siloam, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at his residence.

He was born on October 3, 1932, in Stokes County to the late Will and Alverta Hicks Yates.

Fred retired from the International Boilermakers Local #30 after working with them as a certified welder for more than twenty years.

He is survived by three sons, Carl (Donna) Yates, Mark (Tammy) Rodgers, and Tracy (Heidi) Rodgers; three daughters, Gloria Holt, Anita Yates, and Libby (Josh) Airhart; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alverta; his wife, Linda Yates; one brother; and three sisters.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 10:00am at Brim’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Gerald Jones. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brim’s Grove Cemetery Fund.
