William “Bill” Henry Crissman, 82, of Pilot Mountain, went to plant his heavenly garden on March 13, 2021 at Surry Community Health and Rehab. Born May 29, 1938, he was the son of Sam and Sally Lawson Crissman. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, a daughter and son-in-law, Sally Darlene (Charles) Goins; a special and loving sister, Lettie Hiatt; a very special niece, Sharon Hiatt; a brother-in-law, Edward Goins; and three sisters-in-law, Lucille Crissman, Shirley Crissman and Edith Crissman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his devoted wife of 52 years, Lucille Goins Crissman; four brothers, Cary, Jack, George, and Esker Crissman; a sister, Betty Crissman Lawson, and beloved grand dog, Jackson.
Raised on a farm, he learned the value of hard work and responsibility. He demonstrated those values raising his family, side by side with Lucille, tending the farm and throughout the many years he worked at Insteel, Inc., from where he retired. He took great pride in his gardens, especially his tomatoes. He enjoyed sharing the bounty from his gardens with neighbors, family, and friends. Bill cherished spending time with his family. His ever-present smile and humor will forever be missed. He was dearly loved by his daughter and his family. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Surry Community Health and Rehab. for the special care and attention they gave to Mr. Bill.
Mr. Crissman will lie in state from 2:00-5:00 PM Thursday, March 18, 2021, and from 9:00-5:00 PM every day thereafter until departing for his graveside service on Sunday, March 21, 2021.
